Certificate of Law & Finance (CLF)

Course Objectives

This course focuses on issues relating to corporate and financial activities in areas of succession. Students will be provided a broad introduction of the laws affecting professionals involved in the financial industry and an overview of the relevant key regulations affecting the industry.

 

Participants will be provided with real case-studies to understand how these laws apply and work within their various industries.

 

It is a specially designed course that provides a strong grasp of common-law principles and how they affect finance professionals within real case-scenarios; providing them with sufficient legal know-hows to provide relevant and crucial knowledge in the discharge of their profession.

Entry Requirements

Participants should possess the following:
1. Any recognised degree or an equivalent professional qualification;
2. A diploma; or
3. 5 years relevant work experience in managerial capacity.

Module 3: Personal Succession Planning

To deal with succession and protection of an individual, family and/or business. The module examines types of assets, methods of ownership and different ways of succession. Different legal instruments such as Wills are discussed in detail with regard to legal formality, role and duty of personal representatives and situations where Wills have been challenged. Participants will learn the rules of intestacy and certain exceptions to those rules and the procedures involved in probate and estate administration. Participants will gain a better understanding of the financial impact and possible financial solutions through insurance products, such as creating wealth for consumers and their desired beneficiaries in the events of their death, illness, accidents or disability; achieving sound legal succession for both the individual and the business. It will also covers various aspects of family law such as marriage, divorce, nuptial agreement, guardianship, minors, custody and others as well as how these aspects affect a person’s assets in relation to financial implication in succession.
